ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE:
St Vincents Private Melbourne is a facility of St Vincents Health Australia under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries. We are a not-for-profit Catholic private hospital which operates acrossfour sites at Fitzroy East Melbourne Kew and Werribee.
This is a 6 month appointment for a Thoracic Fellow/Registrar commencing in August 2025 with possible extension. This rolewould be suitable for a senior surgical HMO passionate about thoracic surgery keen to refine their operative skills and eager to contribute meaningfully to high-quality patient-centred care.
As the Thoracic Surgery Fellow/Registrar you will:
Assist renowned thoracic surgeons in cutting-edge minimally invasive robotic and endoscopic procedures.
Take a lead in patient care through ward rounds discharge planning and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
Participate in emergency and elective thoracic cases with a strong focus on surgical precision and efficiency.
Engage in administrative duties that contribute to the smooth function of the unit.
Build your operative logbook and clinical exposure in a supportive high-volume environment.
Attend weekly lung cancer MDT meetings audits and teaching sessions at St Vincents Hospital Melbourne.
Undertake research projects present findings and take part in ongoing medical education.

ABOUT YOU:
Applicants should have general registration with AHPRA and at least two years experience in an acute Australian Hospital (PGY3). Other attributes considered essential for this role include previous experience in managing deteriorating patients good communication skills and the ability to provide clinical care consistent with the expected medical best practice.
Desirable skills and experience include:
Thrives in a collaborative fast-paced surgical team.
Demonstrates commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety.
Is keen to contribute to the future of thoracic and upper GI healthcare through education and research.
