The Opportunity
Were seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join a dynamic technical team developing first-of-kind clean energy systems. Reporting to the Engineering Director youll have technical responsibility for designing modular production systems and packaging them into containerised solutions. This is a key role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment developing revolutionary technology.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development:
- Develop drawings for containerised systems consisting of processing equipment with piping valves and instrumentation
- Design custom parts in CAD using various materials (stainless steel glass ceramics etc.)
- Create specifications for equipment vendors and manage supplier relationships
- Generate general assembly drawings and bill of materials for reactor and balance of plant sub-systems
Technical Engineering:
- Perform mechanical stress calculations to ensure correct specifications
- Integrate supplier drawings into company design files
- Ensure designs and systems comply with relevant legislation and standards
- Generate work instructions for mechanical fitting of components
Collaboration & Management:
- Work closely with the wider engineering team on system development
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers
- Assist with mechanical fitting and assembly of components
- Manage parts and assembly drawing systems with strong organisational skills
Essential Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Design Engineering OR 5 years related field experience
- Minimum 5 years working in engineering design environment
- Strong CAD proficiency (SolidWorks AutoCAD 3D or similar)
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environment developing first-of-kind technology
- Excellent problem-solving skills and cutting-edge technology development experience
- Structured and organised working methods with strong file management skills
- Pragmatic detail-conscious approach
- Ability to write concise technical documents
Desirable Experience
- Previous start-up experience
- Experience with confined spaces or containerised designs
- CE/UKCA certification file generation experience
- Hydrogen or flammable gases experience in ATEX/Ex environments
- Experience with conveyance systems for solid particles in ATEX/Ex environments
