Job Description: Buyer Officer – Grains (Maize/Rice/Wheat)

Reports to: Procurement Manager / Head – Agri Sourcing
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Buyer Officer with a strong background in the procurement or warehouse management of Maize Rice or Wheat crops. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end sourcing operations ensuring timely procurement quality assurance and effective inventory control to support business goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and execute the procurement of Maize Rice or Wheat as per seasonal demand forecasts and quality requirements.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with farmers traders aggregators and APMC markets.

Negotiate prices and ensure cost-effective purchasing without compromising on quality.

Monitor and manage warehouse operations including stock levels grain quality storage hygiene and FIFO implementation.

Coordinate with internal stakeholders (finance quality logistics) to ensure smooth procurement-to-dispatch operations.

Conduct market intelligence and price trend analysis to support decision-making.

Ensure compliance with food safety standards SOPs and documentation protocols.
Candidate Profile:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in agri-buying or warehouse handling of food grains.

Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

Sound knowledge of procurement processes and local grain markets.

Willingness to travel to rural sourcing zones and mandi locations.

Graduate in Agriculture / Supply Chain / BBA / relevant discipline preferred.
