Scope of Role
The Lead Engineer is responsible for leadership of the sub system engineers and is responsible for deliverables of automotive Exterior – both in design and project engineering. Automotive Exterior components include (not exclusive) bumper fender diffuser Louvers wheel arch side mirrors finishers grills any other exterior trim part etc.
Area of Responsibility
This position is responsible for establishing planning and running the engineering sub system meetings to ensure appropriate cross functional representation and input from all relevant areas as well as providing inputs and guiding a team of design engineers reviewing their design outputs for ‘first time right’ assurance. You will have responsibility for:
- Establishing the team work plan
- Ensuring progress is made by following up actions with their owners.
- Publishing minutes from each meeting
- Ensuring that the engineering sub-system delivers its objectives and targets (technical and business)
- Ensuring that program timing objectives are met
- Communicating team progress to management
- Ensuring the effective application of APQP to manage system/ component delivery
- Ensuring vehicle builds are supported with parts at the required level
- Ensuring that issues are addressed and closed off
- Ensuring that issues that cannot be resolved are escalated to Module Leader
- Identifying all risks to the program
- CAD activities coordination and guidance to a team of design engineers
- Technical reviews of design and other containment/ countermeasure solutions for ensuring ‘first time right’
- Setting up system road-map which provides enough input to design engineers to progress their work
Knowledge / Experience
- Excellent communications skills demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels.
- German speaking and writing skill is must (preferred B2 level)
- Experience of using industry standard project management processes.
- Experience in CAD & Team-center/ Enovia – preferably Catia V5 is added advantage
- DFMEA DVP Exterior Test Specs homologation crash standards material specs Design for Manufacturing Design for Assembly Design for Serviceability & GD&T
- Excellent experience in Advanced Excel word power-point.
- Experience in use of engineering tools Six Sigma problem resolution etc.
- Degree/ diploma in Engineering discipline with strong experience in automotive industry
