Job Description

ID Recruitment are delighted to be working with a large mechanical and electrical engineering company in Mayo to recruit a Buyer. The role which will report to the Operations Manager will oversee and manage the procurement process for the company working closely with a team of Quantity Surveyors and Estimators.

The role which will be based full time in the Ballinrobe office is for someone who is experienced working in supply chain has strong analytical and numeracy skills and has the ability to work across multiple projects at once.


Main Duties and Responsibilities include;

  • Oversee and manage the procurement process for all company projects from tender budgeting to final site delivery.
  • Maintain and optimize the supply chain between the suppliers and Project Managers.
  • Negotiate prices and establish long-term relationships with material suppliers.
  • Work alongside Contract/Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors to negotiate pricing and contract conditions with subcontractors (as required per project).
  • Ensure efficient administration of purchasing processes enforcing compliance with purchase order procedures and accurate goods-receipting.
  • Maintain and control all tools within the company.
  • Monitor and track actual costs against budgeted costs ensuring cost control and efficiency.
  • Prepare and submit weekly purchasing reports to Contracts Managers and Project Managers.
  • Conduct stock analysis and implement effective inventory control measures.
  • Ensure accurate three-way matching of purchase orders goods received notes (GRN) and invoices.
  • Work closely with the accounts department on creditors and cash flow management.
  • Collaborate with the QS team to align on financial forecasts costs and cash flow.
  • Manage and oversee monthly stock take reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all Revenue regulations related to imports and exports.
  • Negotiate freight rates with logistics couriers and freight forwarders across Ireland Europe and globally.
  • Work closely with key suppliers to secure the best pricing and improved credit terms based on forecasting and demand.
  • Oversee a Supplier Performance Metric providing feedback to suppliers to drive continuous improvement.
  • Working with the QA teams on all quality issues relating to suppliers making sure that actions are taken and implemented to resolve all issues
  • Comply with Group QEHS Management System requirements i.e. perform your work according to your process documents and procedures and maintain document information/complete forms/records as required
  • Understand and apply with our QEHS policies statement in all aspects of your work.


Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in Supply Chain/Purchasing.
  • Qualification required in Purchasing/Supply Chain i.e. IIPMM APICS or CMI or a 3rd level Business Qualification.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills; ability to carry out margin and financial analysis.
  • IT literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communications negotiation and supplier management skills.


Proven experience managing procurement functions, with a minimum of 3 years experience in Supply Chain/Purchasing. Qualification required in Purchasing/Supply Chain, i.e. IIPMM, APICS or CMI or a 3rd level Business Qualification. Strong analytical and numeracy skills; ability to carry out margin and financial analysis. IT literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Detail-oriented, highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent communications, negotiation, and supplier management skills.

Education

Relevant qualification in Architectural Technology, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Design, or a related field
