Job Duties
Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Therapist III - OT Supervisor who will plan and deliver occupational therapy treatment utilizing comprehensive and specialized approaches and provide clinical guidance to rehabilitative staff. This position will be responsible for performance management which includes ensuring that staff receive frequent constructive feedback including interim evaluations as appropriate; performance issues are addressed and documented as they occur; and the requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation.
The Therapist III - OT Supervisor will also be responsible for providing work products documenting 14-20 hours of active treatment per week as evidenced by approved schedule; ensuring programs are age appropriate and that activities of subordinate staff are integrated with their assigned treatment teams; producing written evidence that the clinical process has been carried out - includes assessments goals/objectives conclusions/recommendations interventions assigned and documentation of patient response; assisting in the strategic planning of new programs and assessments as needed; and providing oversight support of PSR operations across all learning centers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from a program in occupational therapy that is accredited by the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association
- Must maintain the ability to practice occupational therapy in the state of Virginia as specified for licensure by the Virginia Board of Medicine
- extensive clinical and Psycho-Social Rehabilitation programming service area supervision experience
- demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of occupational therapy
- ability to evaluate and interpret quantitative and qualitative data related to the clients performance in ADLs IADLS sleep and rest work play/leisure and social participation using standardized and non-standardized procedures
- knowledge of occupational therapy practices for medical physical/somatic intellectual learning and other non-psychiatric disabling conditions
- knowledge of select occupational therapy theories frames of references and intervention modules to design and deliver occupational therapy services to promote mental health and intervene with the presence of psychiatric conditions
- ability to plan/implement client-centered psychosocial groups to enhance engagement in occupations
- ability to collaborate with other disciplines to establish implement evaluate and revise individualized treatment plans
- ability to establish therapeutic rapport with clients
