Job Duties
The purpose of this position is to help provide oversight of child care licensing in Virginia in order to keep young children healthy and safe. This position will ensure that Virginias child care licensure operations provide maximum protections for children in out of the home settings while promoting partnerships with providers to implement best practices streamline processes and minimize burdens. This position will lead the development of policy procedure and legislation related to child care licensing and ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
This position will establish systems use data and lead a large team in order to implement inspection and monitoring practices statewide that ensure consistent enforcement and support continual improvement. This position will also work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to drive a statewide quality improvement effort in order to ensure that all children have access to healthy safe and high quality early childhood experiences. Ultimately this position will help Virginia achieve its goal of improving school readiness for all young children in Virginia.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong knowledge of child care or education policy education/human services/early childhood/child care operations public administration or public or private sector operations required.
Knowledge and experience in private or public sector operations performance management data collection and reporting.
Experience managing a team.
Experience leading a team of professionals through a change or transformation.
Experience using data to drive continual improvement and run a complex operation and/or organization with a focus on responsive customer or constituent service.
Strong operational project and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple assignments with critical deadlines and to work collaboratively in a team situation.
Ability to effectively present technical and complex information to various audiences.
Strong technology skills and experience using software applications including Outlook Teams Word/Excel teleconference tools and online data collection and reporting systems.

This position is expected to travel unexpectedly to different areas of Virginia.
