Job Description

This is an 11-month position that requires a bachelors degree (masters preferred) in education mental health or other related health field. Three (3) years of experience in teaching counseling psychology/mental health services social services nutrition or have documented experiences in either supervising or implementing one or more components of the Coordinated School Health component areas required. Job Summary

To develop initiate and advocate the components of the Coordinated School Health program: health education health services counseling psychological and social services nutrition physical education/physical activity school wellness healthy school environment and student/parent/community involvement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  1. Organize and administer the Coordinated School Health program to promote a districtwide culture of health and wellness ensuring students have access to resources that support their academic achievement and personal well-being.
  2. Serve as a liaison between the school district community partners staff healthcare providers and families to collaboratively plan and implement comprehensive health initiatives that foster student success and family well-being.
  3. Promote community engagement by actively sharing information updates and resources about the Coordinated School Health program through district communications and public outreach.
  4. Lead districtwide health education initiatives for students and staff focusing on prevention healthy lifestyles and all components of Coordinated School Health including providing leadership in the selection assignment and evaluation of materials for physical and mental health programming.
  5. Serve as the district-wide Youth Sports Coordinator collaborating with community partners and district staff.
  6. Develop a system for orienting and leading professional development for administrators counselors PE teachers and other staff focused on all components of Coordinated School Health to ensure consistent districtwide implementation of health and wellness initiatives.
  1. Manage program budgets oversee expenditures and process purchase orders in alignment with district policies and grant requirements to ensure responsible use of Coordinated School Health funding.
  2. Lead manage and support health and wellness initiatives in collaboration with district departments including athletics health services nutrition homeless liaison and other student support services to integrate Coordinated School Health practices through screenings vaccinations nutrition programs and targeted wellness supports for students.
  3. Support schools across Tier I II and III mental health services by working with school counselors to implement prevention and safety initiatives including Erins Law suicide and threat assessment protocols safety planning child abuse reporting and Childrens Advocacy programs to ensure compliance with state mandates and promote student well-being.
  4. Provide leadership in implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (RTI A RTI B) including social and emotional learning to address student behavioral academic and well-being needs through coordinated interventions.
  5. Develop and implement policies procedures and regulations for the Coordinated School Health program ensuring they reflect current trends research and evidence-based best practices.
  6. Develop and administer assessments and surveys to inform school improvement efforts and guide the annual evaluation of the Coordinated School Health program as required.
  7. Manage health-related data records and assessment for health/drug screenings surveys and initiatives ensuring accuracy confidentiality and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  8. Respond to health-related emergencies and incidents coordinating appropriate responses and follow-up actions.
  9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
