Description

Summary: The Director of Planned Giving oversees and directs the planned giving program and is responsible for identifying cultivating soliciting valuing and tracking all deferred gifts. Creates and implements a strategy to increase the membership in the John Cleve Green Society annually and develops a stewardship program in coordination with the Director of Advancement Communications and Donor Relations . Additionally responsible for managing a pool of capital and planned giving prospects to engage solicit and steward gifts of $100000 and above in an assigned geographical region. Extensive travel is required.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Make 100 one-on-one visits with donors/prospects annually on own and/or with volunteers administrators and/or colleagues. Develop and implement long-term fundraising strategies for each assigned/identified prospect including cultivation solicitation and stewardship. Present Lawrencevilles mission and needs effectively and articulately to secure support for School priorities as defined by leadership.
  • Engage senior administrators faculty trustees and others in approaching potential donors. Prepare visit briefings strategy documents solicitation proposals and stewardship reports both independently and with colleagues.
  • Develop and implement an overall fundraising marketing and stewardship plan for planned gifts. Set measurable annual goals for JCG growth for self colleagues and volunteers monitor/report progress and re-tool when needed.
  • Collaborate with A&D staff to ensure likely planned giving prospects are actively managed and presented with PG opportunities. Ensure A&D proposals include a JCG component. Develop and deliver planned giving training for colleagues and volunteers. Serve as the resource and liaison to colleagues and volunteers on planned giving matters. Partner with Advancement Services to uncover and develop prospects.
  • Work closely with internal and external marketing resources to produce and distribute compelling content including the planned giving website and marketing materials using email direct mail and social media. Fully leverage the suite of services and materials available to the school.
  • Develop and provide reports to the Director of Principal and Major Gifts and other senior leaders as required.
  • Anticipate and ensure timely filings for regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Prepare and manage the program budget.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries (within 24 hours) and provide personalized gift illustrations and planned giving proposals. Maintain accurate confidential records of all planned gifts in collaboration with Advancement Services. Follow through promptly on all projects mindful of detail accuracy and confidentiality

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required advanced degree preferred. Formal training and demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of charitable gift planning financial and estate-planning experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of development experience with education alumni relations and/or volunteer management preferred.
  • Highly motivated self-directed achievement-oriented and committed to teamwork and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of fundraising: planned giving work including in a related field and a record of success in closing six and seven-figure gifts.
  • Highest standards of professionalism and performances as evidenced by collaborative teamwork initiative critical thinking good judgment consistency of output timeliness in follow-through and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to participate meaningfully and creatively in goal setting long- and short-term strategic planning and problem solving.
  • Organized works well under pressure with limited direction
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment regarding prospects and all other areas of performance without close day-to-day supervision.
  • Ability to work with discretion at all times; must be able to keep all data confidential concerning Lawrenceville and its constituencies.
  • Demonstrated success in motivating donors to make significant gifts.
  • Proficient with technology Microsoft Office Suite Google software PG Calc and Raisers Edge.
  • Extensive travel required (35% of working days).

  • Required to stand for long periods of time

  • Required to work evenings weekends and holidays in conjunction with School calendar and events
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. without assistance
  • Ability to see with normal parameters.
