Hume Anglican Grammar is a multi-campus co-educational Anglican Diocesan School offering education from Prep to Year 12 in the Northern growth corridor of Melbourne.

  • Hume has an open enrolment policy so educates children from many faiths and with a diverse range of backgrounds and abilities.
  • The School aspires to develop young people who are kind creative inquiring socially and emotionally at ease and who strive to achieve their personal best in all their endeavours.
  • In 2025 the school has 2960 students and employs some 300 staff - 208 teaching and 92 non-teaching. The anticipated student enrolment at each campus is at Freier 1456 Donnybrook 1028 and Kalkallo 476.
  • By 2029 the School will ultimately have some 3612 students (Freier 1428 Donnybrook 1596 and Kalkallo 588) with a corresponding cohort of teaching and general staff totalling 350 across its three campuses.

About the role:

The Head of Student Wellbeing - Secondary is responsible for implementing the Schools Vision for Student Wellbeing and its realisation of creating a learning culture within the Secondary school. They drive the scope and sequence of the Secondary school student wellbeing curriculum provide expert advice to teachers and play a key role in delivering a relevant progressive and effective wellbeing practices and interventions.

The Head of Student Wellbeing - Secondary is recognised and highly respected by colleagues parents and community members as an exemplary teacher and leader. They have demonstrated consistent and innovative teaching and wellbeing practice and the ability to initiate and lead activities that focus on improving educational opportunities and outcomes for all students.
They foster a culture of Student Wellbeing to develop independent and resilient learners. They are skilled in mentoring teachers using activities that develop knowledge practice and professional engagement in others. They promote and nurture creative innovative thinking among colleagues.

The Head of Student Wellbeing - Secondary supports and assists the Director of Student Wellbeing and liaises with the Learning Enhancement Coordinator Secondary in the implementation and delivery of additional support for students to foster their development.

The Head of Student Wellbeing - Secondary reports to the Head of Section - Secondary and is directed by the Director of Student Wellbeing in respect to the strategic development and enactment of the Vision for across the School. The Head of Student Wellbeing - Secondary is a member of the Secondary Leadership Team and operates in close partnership with the Head of Teaching and Learning in the conduct of Secondary school operations.

The Head of Student Wellbeing Secondary has each of the Year Level Coordinators as direct reports. The role will be supported and assisted by the secondary administrative team.

The teacher role is ongoing (1.0 FTE) and the position of responsibility is fixed term commencing on Tuesday 27 January 2026 and will conclude on January 2030. This position is based at our Donnybrook campus with a leadership allowance at level 6 and has a 0.5 plus Homeroom or equivalent time release.

Requirement for the role:

  • Bachelor of Education degree or higher
  • Current registration or immediate eligibility for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
