Job Description

The Budget Specialist II under general supervision reviews and approves moderately complex budgetary documents and performs moderately complex budgetary analysis for the Center for Information Technology Excellence (CITE).

This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the CITEs primary contact for budget office and payroll administration; runs monthly pay calculation reports; reviews and verifies for accuracy and makes appropriate changes to payroll actions; and prepares monthly reconciliation of payroll; works with the appropriate departments to process Account Profile Electronic Document Routing and Budget Transfer Forms and initiates Department Budget Requests (DBRs) to address budget setup changes and clear up departmental deficits in a timely manner.

  • Assists in the monitoring processing and tracking of funding requests. Makes travel arrangements prepare leave travel requests and reimbursements attend budget meetings order supplies prepare purchase requisition/IDO etc.

  • Reviews verifies and/or initiates changes to employee costing allocations and other payroll actions/changes processed in Workday for staff faculty and student employees and updates budget accordingly; prepares journal and budget entries; monitors all accounts and financial activity and prepares and maintains budgetary analysis of funds.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of related experience.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing spreadsheet and database applications.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Other Requirements:

  • May be required to work beyond normal office hours and weekends.

Special Requirements:

  • Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelors degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelors degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of seven years of experience.
