VICE PRESIDENT FOR RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT Office of the President will serve as the Institutes lead fundraiser; provide strategic leadership and management for MITs comprehensive development efforts that includes development planning and initiatives foundation relations gift planning leadership giving philanthropic partnerships prospect development and fundraising support operations; be responsible for managing a centralized development operation that seeks financial support from individuals foundations and corporations and coordinates fundraising marketing and communication efforts among the schools and college; collaborate closely with the Presidents senior team deans faculty Alumni Association and volunteers to define priorities and shape strategies to build philanthropic support to meet the evolving needs of the MIT community and oversee the management of the offices staff of approximately 200 people.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelors degree; a minimum of ten years of progressively senior strategic leadership experience preferably in development at a major educational institution or an environment of similar complexity; demonstrated ability to provide management oversight leadership and strategic direction; the ability to interact effectively with donors faculty members of the Corporation executives and alumni; demonstrated success overseeing fundraising activities; the ability to think strategically during changing economic conditions combined with strong fiscal accountability and the ability to manage resources with efficiency; discretion in handling confidential matters; experience in principal and transformational giving; superb listening presentation communication interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to build excitement about MITs unique strengths and its service to the nation and the world; and a passion for seeking philanthropic support to advance MITs goals. PREFERRED: Masters degree; and individual giving and fundraising for science and technology programs. Job #25024
