Under the direction of the Dean of the General Education Academic & Career Pathway this position collaborates with the Dean in the general operations of theGeneral Education Academic & Career Pathway.The Associate Dean may also assist in the areas of Correctional Education and the Office of Bilingual Education. The Associate Dean is an innovative learning leader who works collaboratively with faculty staff and other administrators in developing and sustaining high quality academic programs to ensure student success. An emphasis of this position is the required collaboration between Gen Ed disciplinary faculty and central advising (primary responsibility) in course placement. This collaboration is essential to support counsel and engage with advising staff for appropriate course placement for all students.


The Associate Dean encourages and fosters a culture of inquiry about student learning in support of various college strategic

initiatives works in collaboration with District-wide administration as well as the 4-yr transfer and community partners to align programs

and curriculum to 4-yr colleges & universities labor market needs and to maximize opportunities for student success. The

Associate Dean will collaborate with the Dean in the planning directing and evaluating all assigned functions associated with maintaining and delivering quality academic programs.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of curriculum instruction and assessment processes functions and innovations.
  • Knowledge of traditional and career-technical program review processes.
  • Knowledge of the functions and objectives of all Academic and Career Pathways and programs and support programs and services.
  • Advanced skills and knowledge in student-centered approaches and systems in enrollment and scheduling that support the holistic development and success of college students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of the functions and objectives of pathway-specific programs and student support services. Strong understanding of vocational technical and adult education in academic administration.
  • Ability to organize analyze and interpret statistical and management data. Demonstrated ability to gather information identify patterns or connections between situations.
  • Knowledge of effective principles of supervision and management. Demonstrate leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise professional and staff and interact with all levels of management
  • Ability to manage large budgets and other resources in area of responsibility. Demonstrated ability to manage and develop program budgets at the federal state or local levels.
  • Ability to incorporate strategic directives into operational-level goals objectives and action plans. Ability to use data analysis to promote quality learning.
  • Ability to establish workflowsmanagemultiple projects andmeetnecessary deadlines.
  • Sensitive to dealing with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. Open objective and will seek to understand issues from multiple perspectives. Innovative in developing options that are responsive to differing needs.
  • Ability to review and evaluate problems and to identify and implement creative solutions.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor should have strong presentation skills and should be able to organize and communicate information to groups of varying size and hierarchical levels in the organization. Strong written and oral communicator.
  • Demonstrates integrity and deals effectively fairly and in a timely fashion with all stakeholders.

Physical Demands:

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act individuals who perform this role must adhere to these physical job demands with or without an accommodation:
  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: 50% of time spent sitting 25% of time spent standing 25% of time walking

Qualifications

Compliance with all state federal and accreditation standards/requirements as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Required Education Minimums:

Required Occupational Experience Minimums:
  • At least three (3) years of experience in the K12 and/or college instructional administration/supervision
  • The equivalent of 2 (two) years of full-time teaching
  • At least one (1) year involved in direct supervision of faculty in teaching roles (may also include apprenticeships clinical sites continuing education or lab-based instruction)
  • At least three (3) years of staff supervision or one (1) year of staff supervision combined with an Emerging Leaders (internal MATC program) completion equivalency.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Provides direct supervision to managerial supervisory and professional personnel regularly delegating work assignments and offering input on hiring decisions coaching counseling training and approving time off.

Preferred Education & Experience: A masters degree or higher with four (4) years of K -16 experience in a field related to one of the programs in the pathway or applicable/relevant field. Five (5) or more years of full-time teaching experience (or equivalent). More than three (3) years in supervisory and/or administrative responsibilities including faculty and managing teams.

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the General Education Pathway and is available to start immediately.

Hours: This position requires 40 hours per week. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday between 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Salary Information: Salary is listed to the midpoint of therange and placement is determined based on years of experience internal salary equity and a review of the applicants employment and educational background as listed on the fully completed job application.
