Position Summary
Individuals appointed from this pool will have the primary responsibility to teach courses within the Art Program Ceramics (Conceptual Hand Building Program). This position will teach ART255 Introduction to Ceramics (hand building) to Art majors. Candidate must be able to teach students basic hand building and glazing skills and how to use the slab roller extruder and general studio best practices and maintenance. The candidate will engage students in critical and historical ceramic conversations. Candidate must have general ceramic technical knowledge. ART255 will be using electric kilns and candidate will coordinate the firing of student work. Candidate must be able to fire an electric kiln mix glazes and clay. Candidate will be responsible for sourcing class materials. Catalog description of ART 255 Introduction to Ceramics: 4 Credits- Introduces fundamental ceramics techniques and concepts. Provides exposure to the design construction glazing and firing of ceramic work. Surveys the history of ceramics and issues in contemporary ceramics.

Minimum Qualifications
Professional: Initial appointment at the rank of Instructor requires a masters degree in the discipline taught or a related field and demonstrated teaching potential. OR Bachelors degree in the discipline taught or a related field plus 2 years teaching experience/work experience in the field. Familiarity with the appropriate equipment as required for the discipline.
