Job Description

Great Basin Homeschool Center Teacher (.5 FTE of position)/Special Education Teacher (.5 FTE of position)

This position is teaching within Klamath County School Districts Great Basin Homeschool Center program The GBHC teacher will work closely with students parents teacher team and curriculum to ensure each child successfully completes his/her instructional program. Teaching and alternative education experience preferred.

Additional responsibilities and qualifications may be added for a specific position.

Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations. Work within the districts communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens) and be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the SDS sheets. Responsibilities include student safety and security.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Not Necessarily Limited to):

1. Understand how learners grow and develop cognitively linguistically socially emotionally and physically.

2. Through the use of the telephone Internet and various curriculum tools the teacher will consult regularly with students and parents to ensure that each child successfully complete his/her instructional program.

3. Collaborate with other educators professional staff and administrators

4. Communicate student progress and concerns with parents/guardians.

5. Understand and use multiple assessment methods to engage learners monitor learner progress and guide instruction.

6. Support student recruitment retention and local outreach activities related to community building.

7. Grow and develop professionally to ensure current methodologies are being used and professionalism is demonstrated.

8. Maintain accurate records and communicate both written and verbal information effectively.

9. Uphold regular attendance at work and work activities.

10. Attend work dressed and groomed in a neat clean appropriate manner for the assignment and work setting.

11. Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to a student family colleague or district patron.

12. Maintain professional boundaries with students including use of appropriate language appropriate physical contact and the use of technology such as email text messages or social networking internet sites.

13. Effectively use technology including internet email electronic communications to enhance instruction and student learning.

14. Follow all District and supervisor policies and directives.

15. Comply with applicable state local and federal laws rules and regulations.

16. Adhere to all standards established by Teachers Standards and Practices Commissions (TSPC) for the Competent and Ethical Educator.

17. Adhere to all Oregon Administrative Rules related to licensed educators inclusive of Mandatory Reporting.

18. Maintain appropriate licenses and training hours as required to implement this position. 19. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

20. Must have the ability to work flexible hours to accommodate student/parent schedules. 21. Other duties as assigned

high quality specially designed instruction to students according to students IEPs
22. Conduct observation and complete reports to determine eligibility
23. Develop IEPs that are strength-based as well as child centered for overall educational improvement
24. Lead IEP team meetings
25. Ensure IEPs and service delivery align with district state and federal guidelines
26. Maintain appropriate data collection and complete progress reports as frequently as progress is monitored in the general education setting
27. Maintain schedules for pull-out services for students and paraprofessionals
28. Provide educational direction to paraprofessionals for individual and small group instruction
29. Contribute productively to the school as a whole

30. Collaborate with school psychologist special education coordinator and other providers

Position to begin in the 2025/2026 school year.

COMPENSATION:

  • 190 day contract
  • Family medical dental and vision insurance
  • 6% PERS paid by District
  • $49907-91207/Annual 2024/2025 school year (2025/2026 salary is dependent upon negotiations)
