Department: Patient Access

What if you had the opportunity to make a difference Carroll County Memorial Hospitals role is to improve the health and well-being of the residents and visitors to Carroll County and surrounding counties by providing quality compassionate cost effective and convenient health care through community leadership and in collaboration with other healthcare organizations which serve our communities.

Hourly Full Time:
Monday Friday 8a-4:30p
Hourly Range: $20-$22/hour

The Job You Will Perform:

  • Promote the mission vision and values of the organization
  • Greet all patients families and hospital visitors with a positive cheerful attitude
  • Review daily IP ER Surgery and OP admissions that are self-pay (private pay)
  • Responsible for financially clearing patients in ER hospital bedside or OP registration to obtain cash payment or determine eligibility for various governmental programs
  • Conduct interview with patient/family
  • Records and maintains complete documentation of activities performed on account while in-house
  • Notifies hospital case management and admission staff of case screening determinations and outcomes via verbal and written communication
  • Calculate and collect cash payments when appropriate for all patients
  • Advises self-pay patients of their medical care options available in the community for future follow-up care
  • Explains hospital regulations
  • Participates in data gathering for financial reporting
  • Set up arrangements/monthly installment plans for patients to pay off balances within the guidelines of CCMH collection policy. Follow up on any payments missed after three days
  • Discuss outstanding balances with patients attempting to receive future services. Provide an estimate for the future service and create a payment plan
  • Create detailed notes in the system to reflect all actions performed on account
  • Maintain a knowledge of CCMH programs
  • Maintain a relationship with our collection agency
  • Serve as a communications person between the department and hospital


The Qualifications Skills and/or Knowledge You Bring:

  • HS graduate or equivalent
  • Hospital registration insurance cashier collection or billing experience required
  • Familiar with healthcare/financial terminology
  • Knowledgeable of avenues available to assist patients with financial aid
  • Knowledgeable of basic clerical functions
  • Excellent telephone communication and public relations skills
