Job Description

LNA/MA

LNA/Medical Assistant

Job Summary:This position may be a licensed medical nurse assistant licensed nurse assistant or medical assistant. The assistant to the nurse works under the direction of the school nurse.

Qualifications: Licensed through the State of New Hampshire or certified. Must have prior experience in the medical field school environment or urgent care. Current CPR and First Aid Certification required.

Work Schedule: 6.5 Hours Per Day with Hour Lunch

Hourly Rate: $19

Responsibilities may include:

  1. Greet and screen students and treat if within scope of practice or defer to the nurse.
  2. Perform and document clinical procedures and student visits.
  3. Maintain the cleanliness of and general appearance of work examination and treatment areas; clean disinfect and maintain equipment and instruments following standard precautions and infection control.
  4. Stock supplies and notify if the supply is low.
  5. Assist special education IAs with students when necessary.
  6. Assist with answering phones taking messages filing and performing other administrative duties to meet the needs of the health office and school.
  7. Assist with computer entry such as immunizations physical exams hearing and vision screenings heights and weights student visits and any other screenings as appropriate.
  8. Recognize limitations and seek advice and direction from other appropriate clinical staff.
  9. Administer medications that are delegated once competencies have been passed. Only administer medications that are within the scope as determined by the nurse.
  10. Acquire new knowledge and skills to remain current in practice.
  11. Comply with the policies and Procedures of the Windham School District.
  12. Must be able to effectively communicate in person and over the telephone.
  13. Perform duties as assigned.
  14. Must be able to respond calmly to emergency situations.
