The Opportunity:
As part of the Language Programs team the Early ChildhoodEducator provides a caring and positive learning environment for children inthe childcare programs. The primary responsibilities for this position areplanning preparing and delivery of daily early childhood educationalactivities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Is alert and responsive to childrens needs at all timesfostering a caring and positive learning environment.
2. Participates in planning for and implements dailyactivities and ensures that all activities are developmentally materials and equipment for activities.
3. Maintains the cleanliness of equipment and supplies.
4. Guides children in activities; telling stories teachingsongs leading discussions.
5. Guides and assists children in the development ofappropriate life skills and interactive behaviour.
6. Ensures the safety and hygiene of all children while inthe center.
7. Immediately reports instances of suspected child abuse tothe Day Care Coordinator.
8. Adheres to the Centers guidelines for discipline andmanaging behaviors appropriately.
9. Maintains the cleanliness of equipment and supplies.
10. Adheres to DIVERSEcity and personnel policiesprocedures and practices.
11. Any other duties as required.
Qualified Candidates will possess:
1. Early Childhood Education Certificate with a minimum ofone years experience working with children aged 0 - 6 years. Infant ToddlerCertificate and/or Special Needs Certificate is an asset.
2. Previous current and relevant experience in a childcaresetting.
3. Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of youngchildren and their parents/caregivers.
4. Cross-cultural experience and knowledge of settlementissues.
5. Ability to plan daily activities appropriate to thecurriculum of the program.
6. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
7. Excellent time management skills.
8. Ability to communicate effectively in English oral andwritten.
9. Standard First Aid and CPR training; Child Safe trainingand Food Safe training are assets.
10. A criminal record check is a condition of employment.
11. Second language an asset
A Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment.
