GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under an assigned supervisor provide didactic laboratory and clinical instruction in Adult Echocardiography. Other responsibilities include providing instruction in basic cardiovascular clinical skills developing and maintaining curriculum current to the scope of practice preparing course outlines and student learning materials designing and administering written and clinical performance tests counseling students on clinical performance and academic matters and coordinating student assignments to local clinical affiliates. The Program is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and has a 30 year history of preparing graduates to enter clinical practice.
Instructors participate in the planning implementation and evaluation of educational programs courses and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of the vision mission and values of the college and District. This position may include a combination of day evening and/or weekend assignments in classroom labs simulation and clinicals based on Department needs.
This position is being offered by a college strongly committed to the open door concept serving a diverse student population. Instructors will be expected to perform other duties consistent with their faculty job description as stated in the faculty contract.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: APPLICANTS MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
Registered Cardiac Sonographer as demonstrated by completion of a professional registry examination conducted by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) OR Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) OR the candidate must be registry-eligible and agree to obtain registry status within one year from effective date of employment; AND
Bachelors Degree and two years full time experience in teaching or the clinical practice of Adult Echocardiography; OR
Associate Degree and six years full-time experience in teaching or the clinical practice of Adult Echocardiography; OR
Current California Community College Credential that permits full-time service as a Cardiovascular Technology Instructor; OR
The equivalent.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must demonstrate:
1. Academic preparation for or successful experience in teaching or the clinical practice of Adult Echocardiography.
2. Knowledge in the clinical application of cardiac anatomy physiology and pathophysiology.
3. Ability to instruct and motivate students in a broad spectrum of Adult Echocardiography techniques.
4. Ability to work effectively and professionally with colleagues and students.
5. Evidence of a strong commitment to remain current to the scope of practice of Adult Echocardiography and the CVT curriculum.
6. Evidence of sensitivity to the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural possible physical challenges and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will also be evaluated for qualifications in the following:
1. Willingness to participate in the college campus community.
2. Evidence of participation in national and/or local professional organizations for continuing education and community related projects or events designed to increase public awareness of the risk factors and dangers associated with cardiovascular disease.
3. Ability to design and implement curriculum in Adult Echocardiography.
4. Ability to design and implement curriculum in cardiovascular anatomy physiology and pathophysiology.
5. Perform other duties consistent with the general faculty job description as stated in the faculty contract.
6. Scope of experience in other areas of the Cardiovascular Technology curriculum such as electrocardiography medical instrumentation noninvasive procedures stress testing and structural heart procedures.
7. Technology curriculum such as ultrasound physics.
