Staff Hardware Integration Engineer

Position Type:Full Time

Location:Colorado Springs Colorado. This is not a remote position.

Travel Requirements:

  • Expect up to 3 international trips per year 2-3 weeks each with company-paid airfare lodging and per-diem.
  • Must hold (or be able to obtain) a U.S. passport valid for 6 months past each trip.

Salary Range: In compliance with Colorados Equal Pay for Equal Work Act the salary range for this role is$120000 - $140000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates relevant work skills certifications and geographic location.

Additional Compensation:This position is eligible for an end-of-year bonus.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and build hardware-based system ensuring fidelity in performance behavior and network characteristics.
  • Integrate server blades networking equipment sensors and storage to replicate production environments.
  • Lead hardware provisioning-installation configuration and performance optimization.
  • Implement secure configurations (firewalls VPNs identity management) aligned with cyber hardening standards.
  • Define performance benchmarks and execute stress testing vulnerability scanning and system validation.
  • Streamline provisioning with automation tools (Ansible Terraform Packer) for repeatable deployments.
  • Troubleshoot and debug hardware and firmware issues with a focus on reliability and documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date hardware inventories firmware versions and security patches.
  • Partner with cybersecurity software engineering and DevOps teams to integrate hardware architecture into CI/CD pipelines and simulation workflows
  • Mentor engineers on hardware best practices configuration management and system replication techniques
  • Monitor system performance and provide recommendations for optimization and resiliency

Required Qualifications:

  • 6 years of experience in hardware engineering and systems integration.
  • Deep expertise in networking hardware (routers firewalls switches) servers and sensor integration.
  • Experience installing/configuring Linux & Windows servers VPNs IDS/IPS and secure networking.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware and firmware layers.
  • Proficiency with automation tools: Ansible Terraform/Terragrunt Packer.
  • Comfortable with cloud infrastructure technologies and virtualization (VMware Hyper-V Xen).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and hardening procedures for hardware systems.
  • Excellent communication collaboration and system documentation skills.
  • IAT Level II/III DoD certification or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with simulation frameworks
  • Containerization and DevOps: Kubernetes Docker CI/CD
  • Hardware monitoring tools and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with cyber range environments and test automation

Required Education:6 years of hardware engineering and systems integration experience or related experience with a Bachelor of Science degree OR Associate degree with 2 additional years beyond the minimum may be substituted in lieu of a degree OR a High School Diploma with 4 additional years beyond the minimum may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Clearance Requirement:This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance. To be eligible for a security clearance US Citizenship is and an employee must agree to participate in a background screen and credit check.
