213 Day Contract
Minimum Qualifications:
- MA or equivalent degree in School Administration
- New Mexico Public Education Department Level III-B Administrative License or ability to apply and receive; and
- 7years minimum teaching experience.
Skills/Aptitudes:
- Effectiveorganizational ability;
- Professional writtenand oral communication skills; and
- Ability to maintainhigh level of professionalism and confidentiality regarding studentsstaff parents and school matters.
Essential Job Responsibilities of Assistant Principal:
- Coordinates teaching program with site-based goals and District-wide objectives;
- Uses and applies appropriate conflict resolution skills withstudents;
- Maintains positive attitude and ensures classroom environment isconducive to student learning;
- Acts in the decision-making role of Principal in his/herabsence;
- Leads committees when interviewing and hiringstaff;
- Serves as Instructional leader for certified andassociate staff;
- Monitors physical plant operations andmaintenance;
- Assist in Master Scheduling decisions;
- Authorize movies/speaker approval with individualteachers;
- Collaborates consistently with AssistantPrincipals;
- Does daily AM/PM duty in areas where students arepresent;
- Daily lunch duty in cafeteria and other eatingareas;
- Enforces discipline system;
- Oversees and contributes to programs dealing withdropout prevention;
- Supervises credentialing system for teachers;
- Attends and monitors evening/weekend events;
- Serves as the resource and authority for gradereporting/review;
- Assists in graduation requirements arrangementsand ceremony;
- Responsible for school inventory data collectiondeletion and accounting;
- Holds monthly grade level meetings;
- Responsible for Special Education issues and lawcompliance;
- Responsible for teacher observations evaluationsprofessional development plans professional growth plans as needed;
- Participates in Planned Learning Communitiesactivities;
- Monitors daily attendance and truancy issues;
- Works with counselors on key processes;
- Accountable for local state and federal budgetissues;
- Sets general tone in cooperation encouragementand professional development through staff development opportunities(in-services and meetings);
- Good technology skills; and
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
