The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) has a great opportunity for an Experienced Mechanical System Design Engineer in Tukwila WA to work on the Commercial Derivative Airplane program. This position supports the Air Vehicle Team as an equipment manager to multiple suppliers supporting the factory build and assembly as well as supporting fleet requests and clarifications from our customer operating the aircraft. This position requires the ability to be proficient with CATIA V5.
We design develop manufacture or procure integrate test and support the weapons systems aspects of these commercial derivative aircraft. Our facilities are spread throughout the Puget Sound region in Washington. We are specifically recruiting for the P-8 Poseidon Program which is the Navys Multi-Mission Aircraft.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop and release interim and permanent engineering dispositions to ensure aircraft airworthiness and overall operational safety and effectiveness
Supports the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design
Supports the development maintenance or modification of system component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups
Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
Contributes to supplier development test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals
Supports system components designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detail documentation
Knowledge of mechanical component and system design analysis and integration. Familiarization with the tools required for design analysis evaluation and integration (i.e. computer aided design systems mathematical modeling software tolerance analysis software)

This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen lawful permanent resident refugee or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science.
5 years of structural or mechanical systems design experience
3 years of experience with CATIA 3D & 2D CAD Design
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science Degree in Aeronautics/Aerospace Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
Familiarity with Boeing commercial aircraft
Knowledge of mechanical systems and working with external suppliers
Self-motivated with a positive attitude and good communication skills
Collaboration skills and innovative thinking
Ability to seek guidance and expertise from various Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) when appropriate
Ability to work with multiple team functions
