Job Description

Empire Coating Inc is currently seeking a Production Masker to join our team. As a Production Masker you will play a crucial role in maintaining quality safety and productivity through a hands-on approach. Specifically the role focuses on following customer requirements to apply masking materials including tape latex and plugs in preparation for subsequent processes such as anodize or paint. Additionally this role offers a fantastic opportunity to work directly with our Leadership Team with a clear path for career advancement and professional growth.

Our focus industries include but are not limited to aerospace automotive electronics medical and military. Our capabilities include Chem Film Paint Powdercoat Industrial Printing Masking Solid Film Lube and Blasting. We are devoted to long term growth through customer commitment and competitive leadership.

Position Overview

  • Masking Preparation & Application:
    • Material Selection: Using appropriate masking materials (such as tape plugs or latex) based on the customer work order the parts geometry and surface requirements.
    • Surface Cleaning: Ensure the parts surface is clean and free from contaminants before applying masking materials.
    • Precise Masking Application: Apply masking materials precisely to cover specific areas (e.g. threads critical surfaces) that should remain untouched during subsequent processes (e.g. painting anodizing).
  • Quality Control:
    • Visual Inspection: Inspect masked parts for any gaps wrinkles or misalignment in the masking materials.
    • Adherence to Specifications: Verify that masking aligns with blueprints work instructions and customer requirements.
    • Defect Identification: Identify any defects (e.g. incomplete masking) and address them promptly.
  • Collaboration:
    • Team Communication: Coordinate with painters anodize operators or other production team members to ensure smooth workflow during subsequent processes.
    • Feedback Loop: Provide feedback on masking challenges or improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate PPE (gloves safety glasses) to protect against chemicals and sharp edges.
    • Work Area Safety: Maintain a safe work environment especially when handling chemicals or using cutting tools.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Relevant experience in metal finishing manufacturing or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail and accuracy.
    • Communication: Clear communication is essential for reporting findings and collaborating with production teams.
    • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and recommend solutions.
    • Technical Skills: Basic math and computer skills ability to use specialized testing tools and machinery.
    • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and read technical documents and blueprints.
    • Quality Standards: Ensure all products and parts meet stringent quality standards.

Shift Hours:

  • Monday - Friday 7:30am-4:00pm
  • Summer Hours: Monday - Thursday 7:00am-4:00pm Friday 6:30am-12:30pm

Total Compensation Package:

  • Wage
    • $17.00 per hour plus a 90-Day Review for a prospective increase!
    • Compensation depends on the selected candidates experience.
