Position Summary:
The Instructional Support Assistant is a flexible full-time school-based position responsible for providing high-quality instructional and operational support throughout the school. The assistant will serve in a substitute teacher capacity as needed and support classroom learning student supervision and administrative tasks across grade levels and content areas. This position requires a dynamic individual who is adaptable dependable and committed to student success.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates Degree (2-year degree) from an accredited college or university
- Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred
- Ability to obtain or maintain school district substitute certification or authorization
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Clear background check and health screening as required by the district
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional Support:
- Serve as a substitute teacher in the absence of certified staff across all grade levels and content areas
- Support individual students or small groups in instructional activities under the direction of the classroom teacher
- Assist with lesson delivery classroom activities and behavior management
- Provide supervision and support during assessments testing or learning labs
Student Supervision:
- Monitor students in various settings including the classroom cafeteria hallways playground and bus areas
- Support the implementation of safety and discipline protocols
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment conducive to learning and student growth
Schoolwide Support:
- Assist with administrative or clerical duties such as copying filing and organizing instructional materials
- Support school events transitions and logistics as assigned
- Serve as a flexible team member available to assist in any capacity as school needs arise
Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain positive relationships with students staff and families
- Communicate effectively and professionally with all members of the school community
- Participate in staff meetings training and professional development as required
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds
- Frequent standing walking and supervising in indoor and outdoor environments
- May involve exposure to student behavior and challenging situations requiring calm and consistent responses
Terms of Employment:
- Full-time 10-month position aligned with the academic calendar
- School Day as assigned by principal
