Technical Writer

Position Type: Full Time

Location: Colorado Springs Colorado. This position is not remote.

Travel Requirements:

  • Expect up to 3 international trips per year 2-3 weeks each with company-paid airfare lodging and per-diem.
  • Must hold (or be able to obtain) a U.S. passport valid for 6 months past each trip.

Salary Range: In compliance with Colorados Equal Pay for Equal Work Act the salary range for this role is $80000 - $95000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates relevant work experience skills certifications and geographic location.

Additional Compensation: This position is eligible for an end-of-year bonus.

Bluestaq is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Technical Writer to join our rapidly growing team. In this role youll work closely with engineers and subject matter experts to create and maintain clear user-friendly documentation for our enterprise software technology. Your work will directly support Bluestaqs innovative product offerings by ensuring customers developers and stakeholders have access to high-quality technical content.

Responsibilities:

  • Create revise and maintain technical documentation manuals and procedural content for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear concise and engaging documentation for users customers and the developer ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with engineers product teams and designers to gather and analyze information on new or evolving product features.
  • Write and manage various document types including user guides API documentation system operations manuals testing documentation and software/system engineering materials.
  • Develop and maintain online help systems and other digital support content.
  • Plan and track documentation tasks to align with product release schedules and customer deliverables.
  • Conduct content reviews proofreading and quality checks to ensure accuracy clarity and consistency.
  • Incorporate feedback from internal teams and customers to continuously improve documentation.
  • Select and integrate visual assets such as diagrams charts and sketches to enhance documentation clarity.
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of product and system documentation.
  • Promote and apply documentation best practices process improvements and content standards across teams.
  • Review technical drawings mockups and specifications to ensure technical accuracy in documentation.
  • Available 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Mountain Time Monday-Thursday for live collaboration with international partners; remaining schedule is flexible within standard Bluestaq core business hours.
  • Partner daily with distributed teams bridging time-zone gaps to drive architectural decisions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong ability to convey technical content to audiences with varying levels of expertise.
  • Quick learner with the ability to understand complex systems and software using pre-release builds and internal tools.
  • Experience gathering content through interviews documentation review and hands-on testing.
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools and platforms including Microsoft Word Google Docs Adobe Acrobat and online help authoring tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience creating documentation for both print and digital formats.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail.
  • Proactive in seeking clarity feedback and continuous improvement.

Required Education:5 years of technical writing or related experience with a focus on written communications and document writing with a Bachelor of Science or Arts degree OR Associate degree with 2 additional years beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree OR a High School Diploma with 4 additional years beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Clearance Requirement:This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance. To be eligible for a security clearance US Citizenship is and an employee must agree to participate in a background screen and credit check. Eligibility for a TS/SCI Clearance will be assessed as part of the onboarding process or based on programmatic needs.

Relocation:This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
