Job Description

HVAC and Heat Pump Instructor Third-Shift Program Salem High School Salem Public Schools Salem MA SY 2025-2026

This is a grant-funded position supported by the MassCEC Heat Pump and HVAC Grant.

This grant is a collaborative effort between North Shore Community College Lynn Technical Vocational High School Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical High School and Salem High School. The goal of the grant is to train 90 individuals in entry-level HVAC skills to meet the growing demand for skilled HVAC technicians in the North Shore region.

What Youll Do:

This individual is accountable for the teaching and supervision of students in all of the Construction cluster programs in collaboration with the other construction program instructors. This program falls under Chapter 74 Massachusetts state frameworks and curriculum disciplines under the direction of the CTE/CTI Director and the CTI Director of Workforce Development Director of Operations and Grants.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of departmental curriculum objectives and competencies.
  • Responsible for the integration of the departments curriculum where appropriate.
  • Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Massachusetts teachers licensure in HVAC/Heat Pumps Chapter 74 current
  • OSHA & Red Cross train the trainer certification or willingness to become a trainer in the first year of service.
  • Five years of recent (within the last seven years) full-time employment experience directly related to a construction program
  • Evidence of mastery of a wide variety of teacher competencies and understanding of instructional techniques.
  • Demonstrated skill and working knowledge of various construction methods including but not limited to: health and safety Knowledge technical drawings and blueprints building repair and alteration welding electrical building and grounds maintenance.
  • Demonstrated skill and working knowledge of recordkeeping and client relations.
  • Demonstrated skill and working knowledge of energy efficiency and green building technologies.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced educational preparation.
  • Evidence of educational leadership.
  • Curriculum development experience and knowledge of technical competencies with curriculum frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting English language Learners.

Work Year: Grant funded: September 2025 - January 2026

FTE/Hours: Part-time flexible hours during spring day-time hours during summer evening hours during the fall. Additional opportunities available

Salary:$75.00 / hour
