Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:


Under the oversight and clinical/administrative supervision of the Corporate Clinical Director the Residential Therapist provides clinical expertise and oversight of the treatment milieu in identified Residential Level III group home(s). The Residential Therapist provides clinical supervision to staff oversees the delivery of treatment services and provides therapy service to the residents in the group home.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Encourage and facilitate members participation in social activities ensure interactions are appropriate and document participation and any restrictions.

  2. Abide by the policies and procedures of Pathways to Life but is encouraged to effect change from within the framework of Pathways to Life.

  3. Establishing and maintaining good relationships with their peers fellow employees and the consumers. This responsibility extends to all professional and community groups with whom the agency is associated.

  4. Some travel is required to meet client needs such as appointments school meetings etc.

  5. Assist in implementing behavior management strategies to create a positive and inclusive therapeutic environment.

  6. Provide care and support for adolescent males ensuring their safety and well-being in a residential setting.

  7. Modeling positive reinforcement redirection de-escalation guidance etc. through staff/individual/peer interactions.

  8. Directed/supervised psychoeducational activities including the development and maintenance of daily living anger management social family living communication and stress management skills etc.

  9. Monitor and assess the physical emotional and psychological needs of residents.

  10. Facilitate therapeutic and recreational activities that promote the well-being and development of residents.

  11. Provide crisis intervention and support as needed ensuring the safety and stability of the group home environment.

  12. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for each resident including but not limited to person-centered plans case notes incident reports and progress assessments.

  13. Build and maintain relationships with families social workers healthcare providers and other external stakeholders.

  14. Display empathy and compassion for youth while upholding best practices outlined in our trauma-enforced training

  15. Being a source of hope and positivity in a challenging environment

  16. Communicate advocate and participate in program activities and initiatives

  17. Conduct yourself in the highest standards of ethics and integrity while displaying emotional intelligence in your day-to-day work with clients peers and leadership

LEVEL OF EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Criteria for a Qualified Professional According to 10A NCAC 27G .0203

  • Under North Carolina Administrative Code 10A NCAC 27G .0203 a Qualified Professional (QP) is defined as an individual who:

  • Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelors Degree: A graduate of a college or university with a bachelors degree in a human service field and has at least one year of experience working with the population served (e.g. individuals with mental health developmental disabilities or substance abuse issues).

    • Masters Degree: A graduate of a college or university with a masters degree in a human service field such as psychology social work counseling or a related field.

  • Relevant Experience: Has at least two years of direct experience providing services to the population served with mental health developmental disabilities or substance abuse issues. This experience must include both clinical and administrative responsibilities.

  • Core Competencies: Demonstrates competencies in essential areas including:

    • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of the specific field and related practices.

    • Cultural Awareness: Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

    • Analytical Skills: Capability to assess and interpret data to inform decision-making.

    • Decision-Making: Aptitude for making informed and effective decisions.

    • Interpersonal Skills: Proficiency in building and maintaining relationships.

    • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

    • Clinical Skills: Expertise in providing clinical services and interventions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regularly walk stand or stoop

  • occasionally lift carry push or pull

  • move objects weighing up to 25 pounds

  • regularly drive a motor vehicle

  • must be physically able to complete NCI-B and CPR


WORKING CONDITIONS: The Residential QP works in-person in the Pathways to Life group home residential setting. Availability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and on-call shifts as needed.
