Job Description
As a Payload System Characterization Integration and RF-Test Engineer you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to integrate and test the Kuiper-Modem. You will work closely with colleagues throughout Project Kuipers to integrate ASIC HW RF and SW in one single product solution. You will be part of the lifecycle of the development and deployment of the final integrated product.
As a member of Kuiper Payload System Characterization team you will be responsible for integrating the various subsystems RF modem SW-stack etc. to build the product. During this process you will be conducting tests validating each sub-system functionalities and optimizing the end-to-end system
Project Kuiper is Amazons low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast reliable internet to customers and communities around the world and weve designed the system with the capacity flexibility and performance to serve a wide range of customers from individual households to schools hospitals businesses government agencies and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
Integrating various communication Modem functionalities into a single system; from RF (air-interface) to the top layer of the communication stack
Specifying and defining test plans to cover the system functionalities with its diverse use cases
Building various test beds to enable system testing; e.g. setups of antenna modem measurement equipment etc.
Configuring test equipment for automated operation: satellite link emulator spectrum analyzer signal generator etc.
Interpreting test results troubleshooting issues performing root-cause analysis for any test failures
Specifying with other teams the various KPIs and metrics required to span the whole system characterization
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or related discipline or 5 years of RF satellite aerospace or related industry experience.
- 2 years experience in in RF design and/or verification with launched products
- Experience in embedded C and/or C programming
- Experience in wireless technology e.g. 4G/5G Bluetooth
- Experience and hands-on in wireless FW/SW development
- Experience with communication theory and RF-systems; e.g. OFDM MIMO etc.
- Experience working with different chip interfaces/layers e.g. RF PHY etc.
- Experience in wireless (satellite and/or terrestrial) system architecture design and/or implementation.
- Experience of end-to-end system integration and testing
- Experience with on-orbit payload verification or satellite testing
- Hands-on experience with RF measurement equipment including power meters spectrum analyzer vector signal generators network analyzers oscilloscopes.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
