About the role

The Data Engineer specialises in the design and creation of Databricks-based solutions that represent the structure relationships and constraints of the TACs data.

Within this role you will be responsible for the analysis interpretation and pipelining of data supporting the identification of potential areas for delivering value by leveraging data developing test automation solutions and mapping the business requirements to systems/ technical requirements to ensure alignment with the enterprise architectural plan. As a Data Engineer youll also be responsible for ensuring the use of contemporary methods and tools to implement changes in line with business expectations and industry standards.

About the Team

Reporting into the Senior Data Engineer youll join the Performance Insights & Analytics branch in our Geelong office where you will collaborate with a dedicated team committed to shaping the strategic direction of the TAC.

Our division is responsible for Actuarial Performance Analytics Business Intelligence Enterprise Risk Management and Strategy functions. We value innovation continuous improvement and effective stakeholder engagement to deliver outcomes that align with TACs strategic goals.

What were looking for

Expertise in Data Engineering with Azure & Databricks

Strong understanding of Azure Databricks Azure Data Factory Azure Synapse and Azure Data Lake. Proficiency in Python (PySpark) and advanced SQL for querying and managing relational databases. You are confident working with real-time data ingestion transformation and integration across various consumption layers including APIs dashboards and AI models.

Data Governance Quality & Automation

You bring a disciplined approach to data quality governance and documentation; Ensuring data lineage integrity and compliance. You are also skilled in test automation CI/CD pipelines and performance optimisation to support robust and reliable data operations.

Collaboration & Communication

Ability to work in cross-functional teams translating complex concepts for stakeholders and supporting advanced analytics initiatives. Experience with SAS environments and a passion for guiding legacy systems into modern cloud-based platforms is a must.
