You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe THRIVE Jail-Based Treatment Program (JBTP) is supported by the SNAMHS and funded through the NV-DHHS Division of Public and Behavioral Health to provide specialized behavioral health services for patients in jail awaiting transfer to a state hospital for further psychiatric treatment. The unit is a therapeutic environment providing intensive day treatment services. By providing patient-centered evidenced-based and holistic care the JBTP seeks to eliminate the need for these patients to transfer to the state hospital or at a minimum to decrease their length of stay once hospitalized. The ultimate aim is to assist defendants in moving forward with their legal case and with their lives in a healthier place.

As a Correctional Psychiatrist you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide counseling and mental health care to the individuals in residence. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex mental health and medical needs.
The Psychiatrist will enjoy flexible hours while maintaining overall clinical responsibility for the medication management of up to 15 adult patients in the THRIVE JBTP including involuntary medication orders. The ideal candidate has experience (1) treating adults with serious mental illness (2) working in a mental health and/or correctional setting and (3) working within a multidisciplinary team. Must have the ability to stand for long periods lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds) bend squat reach push pull walk significant distances and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
