Summary of Job Duties:

This is a 9-month full-time academic position at the Instructor level. We are seeking a faculty member who is committed to teaching and community involvement. Instructors teach four classes each semester at the undergraduate and/or graduate level as assigned. They are also expected to provide service to the School and community. The successful candidate will be joining an established productive collegial group of educators and scholars.

The Instructor advises BSW and MSW students and maintains an active agenda of scholarship and or research which includes social work-based research/training projects and ongoing scholarly publications. The Instructor will participate in school college and university committees. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • MSW from a CSWE accredited School of Social Work;

  • At least two years of social work practice experience;

  • LCSW credential (or LCSW eligible if not currently licensed in Arkansas).

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Five years of social work practice;

  • Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate or masters level;

  • Experience working with students as an adjunct faculty field instructor and/or liaison.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach BSW and/or MSW classes each semester;

  • Provide service to the School;

  • Keep course content timely and in line with accreditation standards;

  • Respond to inquiries regarding the designated program(s);

  • Monitor student progress through the program(s) and adjust degree plans as necessary;

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer literacy and practical knowledge of current technology;

  • Strong commitment to effective teaching;

  • Ability to teach introductory and advanced-level classes;

  • Knowledge of social work history theory and practice concepts.
