About the Role
ICF is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Modeller to support strategic projects across the energy sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in financial modelling for infrastructure and clean energy investments along with experience in assessing project viability preparing business cases and supporting techno-commercial feasibility studies. Preferred experience includes involvement in commercial and financial due diligence for infrastructure transactions and supporting M&A advisory activities such as target identification market assessment valuation and deal structuring. Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed and dynamic financial models (in Excel or equivalent platforms) to evaluate energy infrastructure projects (e.g. renewable energy CNG/LNG stations CGD power plants CHP hydrogen EV infrastructure)
Develop business case evaluations cost-benefit analysis investment decisions and transaction support for client projects
Conduct scenario analysis sensitivity analysis and risk assessments to evaluate project viability and policy impacts
Prepare cash flow statements IRR/NPV analysis LCOE/LCOS calculations break-even analysis and financial viability assessments
Collaborate with technical regulatory & market teams in energy sector to incorporate real-world assumptions and inputs into financial models
Present financial outcomes and strategic insights to clients regulators and internal stakeholders in a clear and impactful manner
Track industry benchmarks tariffs fuel costs and investment trends to update new/existing models to reflect new data policy changes or strategic shifts
Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and best practices in financial modelling.
Liaise with clients legal advisors technical consultants and internal teams to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.
Prepare client deliverables such as investment decks information memorandums detailed project reports board-level client presentations and internal knowledge-building on energy finance.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance Economics Engineering Business or a related discipline
34 years of relevant work experience in financial modelling project finance investment analysis or transaction advisory in energy domain.
Hands-on knowledge with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Advanced Excel skills (including financial functions data tables scenario analysis VBA/macros preferred) and Power Point.
Solid understanding of financial concepts such as IRR NPV DSCR LCOE payback period and valuation methods (DCF comparables precedent transactions etc.)
Proficiency in analysing financial statements and building dynamic cash flow models
Familiarity with energy sector-specific KPIs and business models (power gas renewables EVs hydrogen etc.)
Ability to perform scenario & sensitivity analysis risk assessment and mitigation modelling

Proficiency in preparing and evaluating techno-commercial feasibility studies and business case development
Understanding of project finance structures and funding mechanisms
Familiarity with investment advisory workflows and stakeholder coordination in transaction environments
Understanding of regulatory and market factors influencing energy sector M&A and investment strategies
Exposure to programming tools such as Python / R and financial tools such as Power BI Tableau and @RISK
Good understanding of Indias Energy sector including energy transition themes
