Primary Purpose
To be responsible for overseeing student discipline and behavior interventions. The CBC ensures that student behavior expectations are clearly defined taught and reinforced in alignment with district policies campus goals and state law.
Responsibilities
Discipline & Compliance
Serve as the point of contact for all discipline referrals and student behavior incidents.
Ensure compliance with Texas Education Code 37.0012 which mandates each campus to have a designated CBC.
Enforce the Student Code of Conduct consistently and equitably across grade levels.
Collaborate with district-level Student Services or Discipline Coordinators on complex behavior matters.
Student Support & Interventions
Develop and implement proactive behavior management plans.
Lead or coordinate Behavior Support Teams and collaborate on Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of tiered behavior interventions (MTSS/RTI).
Support restorative practices conflict resolution strategies and social-emotional learning efforts.
Parent & Staff Collaboration
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding disciplinary decisions and provide due process.
Offer staff development and coaching related to classroom management and student behavior supports.
Build positive relationships with students staff and families to promote a safe and inclusive campus climate.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate documentation of discipline incidents interventions and outcomes.
Submit required reports to the district and/or TEA in a timely manner.
Analyze behavior data to inform practices and campus improvement strategies.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree in education psychology or related field (required)
Masters degree in educational leadership or related field (preferred)
Texas principal certification or appropriate administrative certification (preferred)
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of classroom teaching experience
Prior leadership or behavior intervention experience preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of discipline procedures laws and due process rights
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to diffuse situations and resolve conflict
Knowledge of behavior management techniques and trauma-informed practices
Working Conditions
Fast-paced school environment
Regular interaction with students in crisis situations
Extended periods of walking standing and student supervision
