The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Departments primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed tested and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. The department has approximately 280 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.
Position will perform a variety of facility monitoring and safety functions for a multi-purpose athletic and entertainment facility managed by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Responsibilities will include the following:
Provide inspections of the arena observing safety hazards and reporting findings in the form of written reports.
Provide assistance and information to staff faculty students patrons and guests. Answer or direct all customer service inquiries provide guidance on facility rules and direct individuals to the appropriate offices locations and personnel.
As needed assist in setting up tearing down or cleaning up the arena.
High school diploma or GED.
One year of experience following complex directions from a supervisor.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating/procedural manuals.
Ability to communicate and respond effectively during emergency situations.
Ability to detect and resolve problems as they arise.
Ability to operate a two-way radio.
Ability to learn how to use a closed circuit TV surveillance system and/or other building monitoring systems.
Ability to prepare a standardized report.
Ability to multi-task processing multiple requests while continuing to monitor building and surroundings.
Ability to interface and work effectively with co-workers customers vendors and University staff focusing on customer service.
Ability to clearly write reports and correspondence.
Excellent problem solving skills
Ability to perform basic computer functions.
Prior experience working in an arena and/or sports setting.
