Job Description

Art Physical Education Science Music and Academic Support Teacher/Specialist (UFR 114)

Star School and Learning Center aims to provide an innovative evidence-based multi-sensory education grounded in the Science of Reading for cognitively skilled students with dyslexia and related language-based learning differences. Stars School is seeking enthusiastic educational leaders that are committed to educational success for all. Through methodical planning and implementation of a carefully crafted curriculum our students will embark on a journey filled with confidence as they transform into lifelong learners with the skills to pursue their dreams.

Job Description

The South Shore Stars invites applications for the following position:

Title: Art Physical Education Science Music Academic Support Teacher

Qualifications:

Special Education Techer License Preferred

General Education 1-6 Teacher License

Reports To: Building Principal

Job Goal: Create a fun and engaging classroom that allows students to showcase their work through a variety of mediums. Utilize best practices and support for students to experience and connect with the arts.

Position: Full-time

Work Year: A school year position (184 days) and occasional evenings and weekends for parent/guardian engagement and/or student and agency events.

10 Professional Development days during summer.

Salary/Benefits:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with South Shore Stars Board approved

compensation plan and commensurate with experience and certifications.

Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by

South Shore Stars


Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of theBoards policy on evaluation of personnel. Metrics modeled on Massachusetts Department ofElementary and Secondary Education Educator Rubrics will be used.

Performance Responsibilities:

Create and implement flexible learning programs and classroom environments that support student learning and growth.

Motivate students and allow them to ignite their creativity through the vehicle of mixed media fine and performing arts

Maximize learning opportunities and provide real-world applications.

Utilize a variety of modalities.

Inspire school-wide systems and structures to support student learning.

Model and reinforce the consistent implementation of the instructional vision through best practices including co-teaching peer observation task analysis and co-facilitation of professional learning.

Collaborate with staff members and participate in professional development.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school personnel and students.

Communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form.

Maintain student confidentiality at work and after hours at all times

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect supplies equipment materials and facilities.

Construct creative and inclusive physical education lessons for all of our learners.

Collaboratively work with a team of teachers.

Adapt lessons and teaching methods to meet the needs of individual learners.

Promote health and well-being throughout our elementary and early childhood programs.

Integrate social and emotional learning into physical education lessons.

Utilize effective strategies for classroom management.

Maintain equipment

Create Science lesson plans aligned with Massachusetts curriculum

Collaborate with peers on weekly basis

Adapt lessons and teaching methods to meet the needs of individual learners.

Promote health and well-being throughout our elementary and early childhood programs.

Integrate social and emotional learning into physical education lessons.

Utilize effective strategies for classroom management.

Maintain equipment

Grade and report progress to students co-teachers and guardians
