Job Description

The Laboratory Technician carries out complex and specialized tests and support functions as well as identifies opportunities to improve those processes with which they work. This role offers the career potential to a Scientist / Researcher role.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Uses a full range of methods that have been developed and specified.

  • Routinely includes multiple steps that require judgement to distinguish specific routes.

  • Plans own work and may direct day-to-day efforts of others under the constraints of a test schedule.

  • Performs routine maintenance on a wide range of instruments.

  • May perform light repair work by following documented procedures

  • Works on specific projects under guidance of a technical specialist (i.e. Chemist/ Engineer)

  • Records data observations and conclusions

  • Checks for data integrity and performs detailed calculations and statistical analysis.

  • Communicates with team or supervisor on routine issues.

  • Fully engaged in lab safety and quality programs

Position Requirements:

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Associates degree in general science chemistry biology or similar

Preferred:

  • Bachelors of Science (Biology Chemistry Microbiology or something similar)

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Basic level of expertise required (0-2 years - entry level with 0 years experience with science degree encouraged to apply!)

  • Advanced measurement techniques and excellent lab practices

  • Ability to follow well documented directions

  • Ability to learn complex instrumental methods.

  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.

The estimated salary range for this position is around $23/hour based on pay is dependent on multiple factors such as skills and experience.
