Do you enjoy operating Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines The Geophysical Institute is looking fortwo Machinists to join our research-focused Machine Shop to use CNC machines lathes milling machines and other equipment to fabricate construct and complete projects. As our machinist you will play an important role in designing and fabricating equipment that will be used by UAF researchers all over the world. This position is represented by Local 6070. To thrive in this position were looking for an experienced machinist who is organized able to communicate clearly and effectively and has knowledge of CAD software and knowledge of 3D printing capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications are a Masters level or equivalent certification in a specialized field including but not limited to electrical mechanical or plumbing; or a minimum of 15 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic knowledge and/or experience with CNC machines.
A valid drivers license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.

This position will be physically located at the UAF campus in Fairbanks Alaska. The successful finalist will be expected to report to duty at the UAF office on the first day of employment.
