This role supports the Senior Manager of Credit Risk and the overall Risk Management Team to analyze lending portfolio financials and recommends credit risk strategies to optimize risk-reward. The Credit Risk Manager will work closely with business line partners to ensure business strategies offer volumes and channel selection are within the banks incumbent will provide insight using the banks data warehouse and financial systems economic drivers and regulatory reporting role requires strong data programming skills including SQL and SAS. The candidate should be naturally inclined toward mathematics and have a curiosity to learn complex systems. A background in statistics economics finance or accounting is desirable.

Is this role right for you In this role you will:

  • Identify opportunities for improvement with focus on risk/return while ensuring alignment with Credit Risk Appetite.
  • Develop and monitor credit risk strategies for all Tangerine lending products and recommend business decisions using financial data.
  • Report in providing financial information and monitoring of changes to regulatory standards including internal audit and OSFI guidelines.
  • Lead and support the development and implementation of credit risk and loss mitigation plans and provide insight to the management team through ad hoc requests projects and initiatives.
  • Cross-train and share risk analytic knowledge with team members to foster a strong risk discipline environment.
  • Collaborate with Account Management and Operations risk teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide key access to data via SQL and other data retrieval techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role - Wed love to work with you if you have:

  • University Degree with an analytical mathematical or statistical concentration (Economics Finance Accounting or Statistics)
  • 5 years of experience with statistical programs such as SAS Knowledge Studio or Enterprise Miner
  • Knowledge of OSFI guidelines is an asset
  • Knowledge of Basel regulatory requirements on capital adequacy liquidity risk and interest rate risk would be considered an asset
  • Strong technical solution management experience and skills
  • Strong analytical skills including SQL and SAS
  • Aptitude for innovation and readiness to roll up sleeves and do what is necessary to deliver on business objectives
  • Strong capability to work with cross functional team members and collaborate effectively in high pressure environments
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment where processes and procedures are consistently refined
  • Ability to work autonomously under tight timelines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
