The Department of Applied Human Nutrition at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Interim Nutrition Support and Practicum Advisor.

What youll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Applied Human Nutrition the Interim Nutrition Support and Practicum Advisor will work collaboratively with the Dietetic Program Director (PD) Internship Education Program Coordinator (IC) Graduate Studies Coordinator (GC) and department faculty members to support the department programs in achieving its Mission Vision and Objectives.

Key areas of responsibility include ongoing program evaluation related to accreditation and external reviews implementation and monitoring of Integrated Competencies for Dietetic Education and Practice (ICDEP) program promotion and student professional education as well as other duties as assigned. Program evaluation includes the ongoing review of the dietetic and internship programs according to the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice including the preparation of the self-study report when scheduled. It also includes the review of the other programs and self-study reports for scheduled external reviews.

The incumbent will update departmental documents to reflect the ICDEPs including a curriculum mapping and ongoing monitoring of course outlines and other documents and/or procedures related to ICDEPs. Promotion of programs includes a range of activities such as maintaining websites social media and handout/display currency and student welcome and advising events. Activities related to student professional education include identification of needs and development of supports for writing of the Canadian Dietetic Registration Exam and relevant sessions for undergraduate students organization of graduate seminars and orientation sessions for internship and practicum students.

Other duties will include but not be limited to the yearly compilation of graduate applications review of the graduate student annual reports and updating the Moodle resource sites for the graduate and internship programs. The position will also coordinate and maintain the International Educated Dietitian process as related to Mount students.

What youll need

Qualifications

The candidate will have a relevant Bachelors degree (Nutrition Education Business Administration) and a minimum of two years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A relevant Masters degree is preferred. The candidate must be a registered dietitian or be eligible for registration as a professional dietitian in Nova Scotia (Nova Scotia Dietetic Association NSDA). Membership with Dietitians of Canada is preferred. A commitment to building and maintaining strong relationships is required. Also required is a motivated collaborator and independent thinker who has excellent organizational and communication skills and demonstrated project management and evaluation experience. The candidate should have an interest in dietetic education and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint) Social Media Platforms and have an aptitude for or previous experience using business enterprise systems such as Colleague and Sharepoint.
