Job Description

Job Title: HIGH SCHOOL RECEPTIONIST

Reports To: PRINCIPAL

General Job Description:

Under general supervision of Principal answer high school switchboard hand held radio and perform receptionist duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Answer switchboard and direct calls.
  2. Check students in and out daily.
  3. Direct visitors or callers to an appropriate individual only with appropriate documentation (I.D./drivers license).
  4. Enter student attendance daily and research discrepancies in attendance with teachers/parents.
  5. Enter and file student medical excuses daily.
  6. Generate attendance/grade reports for different Agencies.
  7. Update Attendance on Testing-period dates.
  8. Assist in running/distributing rosters for Substitutes.
  9. Assist in entering attendance from Substitute rosters.
  10. Assist in submitting attendance from student call-in voicemail.
  11. Assist in generating Parent Portal information.
  12. Answer hand held radio and relay messages.
  13. Maintain and update staff telephone extension list and radio list.
  14. Receive and distribute student deliveries.
  15. Receive and deliver student and staff telephone messages.
  16. Assign student lockers and Assign athletic class lockers.
  17. Submit inventory request/work order for School Nurse.
  18. Update information from Student Verification forms.
  19. Maintain confidentiality with sensitive matters.
  20. Be flexible and able to prioritize tasks and maintain accurate and detailed records.
  21. Report to work on time and work no less than 7 hours per day.
  22. Work independently with very little supervision.
  23. Attempt to deescalate parents/students; listening/visiting with them about their concerns prior to them meeting with administrators.
  24. May be required to perform related functions as assigned by your supervisor.

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Issue and handout report cards and student schedules when needed.
  2. Complete Homework Request.
  3. Generate Student Bus slips.
  4. Prepare Attendance for Feeder Route.
  5. Take care of student change/money box.
  6. Complete Social Security paperwork for students/Income Support.
  7. Update Names/phone numbers in computer from returned mail.
  8. Send for students for School Based Health Center.
  9. Maintain lost and found items of staff and students.
  10. May be required to prepare and make daily announcements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise student aides.

Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. One year experience in a clerical position school setting preferred.
  3. Knowledge of computer systems including data bases and word processing programs.
  4. Manage personal and professional tasks through the use of technology.

Physical Requirements:

Sitting standing lifting and carrying (up to 40 pounds) climbing stairs reaching squatting kneeling having full mobility of fingers/hands and moving light furniture may be required unless ADA accommodations have been mutually agreed on and does not create an undue hardship upon the district.

Safety and Health:

Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions (blood borne pathogens body fluids etc.)

Equipment/Material Handled:

Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate multi-media equipment including current technology as needed.

Work Environment:

Must be able to work within various degrees of noise and temperature. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. After hours work may be required. May work under stressful conditions on occasion.

Terms of Employment:

Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
