Job Description

Title :Student Support Services/Well-Being Coordinator - Secondary

Start Date : September 2025

Position Type :Permanent

Posting Overview :
Reporting to the System Coordinator of Student Support Services/Well-Being the Student Support Services/Well-Being Coordinator will primarily be responsible for supporting a group of schools throughout the board to coordinate program and support the implementation of the tiered model. Working within a coaching model the Student Support Services/Well-Being Coordinator will build capacity with resource teachers and school teams to implement tiered supports and interventions through scheduled in-school support modelling facilitation of professional development opportunities and collaboration with Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and multi-disciplinary team members.

The Student Support Services/Well-Being Coordinator will:
ensure the implementation of Board policy and Ministry regulations and completion of required supporting documentation;
engage and liaise with community agencies and services;
provide direct support to a family of schools for items related to Special Education and Program;
attend evening meetings;
have responsibility for Identification Placement and Review Committee and Special Education responsibilities as outlined in the Ontario Education Act;
be willing to become certified as a Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) trainer to support BMS philosophy and capacity building;
provide coaching support to schools on a daily basis which may include lunch and learns and afterschool professional development.

Qualifications/Experience :

Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification;
Special Education Part 1 minimum is required;
Special Education Part 2 and/or Special Education Specialist is preferred;
Additional qualifications in Mathematics and/or Literacy is preferred;
Experience as a school Resource Teacher and/or Special Classroom teacher is an asset;
Participation in current secondary school initiatives such as Multi-disciplinary Team Guidance support school-based Literacy team Student Success team School Improvement Planning phonological awareness work Heggerty and work with the Math Continua are an asset;
Sound working knowledge of current Special Education legislation is an asset;
Leadership skills including organization planning effective communication human relations problem solving judgement and team involvement both as a leader and participant;
Experience working within a coaching model is an asset;
Behaviour Management Systems Training is an asset;
ABA Training and experience is an asset;
Trauma-informed training and experience is an asset;
travel throughout the District is required.

Position Effective Date & Length :

One position available effective September 2025 for a three-year term pending annual budget approval.
School assignments to be determined.
Allowance according to Collective Agreement (Level 1).
