Job Summary
The Intermediate/Senior Piping Designer is responsible for the technical support organization and execution of a variety of consulting engineering assignments with primary responsibilities in the field of piping engineering and design. Support may also be required in areas of mechanical design from time to time. The role will include participating as a member of dynamic project teams with a wide range of types of tasks.
Job Duties
- Establishing in-house standards and specifications for piping design; preparation and support of mechanical/piping design documents; field Investigation.
- Cost Estimating; awareness of ongoing regulatory requirements and industry standard best practices; able to work with TWD and Client design specifications.
- Provide support on internal Safe Design checks on project packages; develop and maintain strong working relationship with internal project team members and external clients.
- Management of project deliverable schedule budget scope of work; assisting in the ongoing development of TWD internal systems to improve our quality and efficiency of delivering effective projects to clients
- Provide cross functional technical support in areas of piping design as may be required
- Familiarization of with various industrial design codes and standards
- Co-ordinate and undertake inspections of pressure equipment and pipelines and prepare field and follow up reports.
- Undertake compliance activities including data management compliance tracking form/schedules and report preparation for submission to regulatory authorities.
- Prepare for review technical memos investigation reports drawings procedures laboratory testing programs maps and engineering assessments
- Provide shop and field services regarding QA/QC activities including but not limited to commissioning of new equipment shutdown activities field repairs and shop fabrication surveillance.
- Utilize in-house and licensed software for data management and report preparation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- 4-15 years working experience in Piping Design
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principals
- Beginner to Intermediate skills with drafting tools such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
- Able to conduct detailed calculations to ensure that designs meet engineered standards and applicable codes
- Experience with multiple phases of projects including preliminary and detailed design tendering construction supervision and commissioning is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written with experience writing technical proposals
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a range of personalities to establish effective working relationships with the required stakeholders.
