The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) has an opening for a Utility Financial Engineer Trainee in the Technical Division of the Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement. This is an entry-level position that focuses on the engineering aspects of public utility regulation and there is room for career growth and advancement in this important role.
In this entry-level professional position you will focus on engineering aspects of public utility regulation and participate in on-the-job training designed to develop proficiency in the analysis of engineering-related subjects for fixed utility proceedings. Work is performed individually and as a member of a team of engineers analysts and prosecutors in the review of assigned cases.
Your responsibilities in this role will include assisting with comparison studies report preparation and analysis of engineering economic and statistical data in the areas of utility plants utility rate structure cost of service gas costs and related issues for assigned cases as well as attending site visits and inspecting utility plants to determine if the equipment used is useful and compatible with the proposed rates and to gain an understanding of the operation of the equipment. You will also be expected to keep abreast of developments in utility laws rules and regulations; assist in the preparation of data requests interrogatories written testimony and exhibits; and participate in hearings technical conferences and related meetings to help enhance the Bureaus position in formal proceedings.
Time management skills and the ability to effectively convey information clearly and succinctly in a variety of formal verbal and written communication settings and styles will be paramount for success in this role.
