REPORTS TO:
Special Education Director JHHS Administration and JHHS Transition Coordinator
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist students ages 18-21 in various work placements within the community.
Assist transition coordinator teachers and related staff for the purpose of supporting lesson plans and/or developing students vocational skills and independence while on the job.
Coordinates with employer and school partners for the purpose of meeting the work education objectives as well as the responsibilities of the students job as identified by the employer.
Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work with various stakeholders and communicate effectively and professionally with the larger community.
Monitor student performance in a variety of work sites according to program guidelines (e.g. visits job sites obtains employer evaluations serves as a liaison between employer student parent and JHHS Transition Coordinator) for the purpose of identifying areas requiring additional training on techniques and methods for maintaining solid work habits.
Tutors students in vocational skills (e.g. work requirements interviewing skills self determination etc.) for the purpose of enhancing their readiness for employment.
Maintain high levels of confidentiality.
Maintain positive and professional communications between stakeholders.
Comply with policies established by federal and state law in the area of special education.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Associates Degree or equivalent required Bachelors Degree preferred.
Valid Wyoming Drivers license must meet current district and state transportation requirements in driving records and insurability. Those not able to meet requirements will not be eligible for this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit on the floor depending on the age of the children and the job of the student. While performing the duties of this job the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs. 0 - 12 feet and on occasion up to 20 feet such as boxes of books and AV/VCR carts. Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person may need to lift arms to write on chalk or marking board and occasionally stoop kneel crouch and reach 0 - 24 inches and up to 36 inches above the head. The employee is directly responsible for the safety well-being and work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed materialthe ability to adjust focus and exposure to screen(s) via technology. Hearing ability to monitor activity and presence of students and respond to communication with students and adults is required. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is normally low to moderate but may become loud when large groups are together in a room. The employee may be required to move from room to room to provide instruction and may have to maneuver in crowded hallways or job settings. Duties are typically performed indoors and occasionally outdoors such as playground duty or when students are boarding or unloading buses. The employee may be exposed to unpredictable weather conditions. This position is typically performed in a hazard free clean and healthy environment. The position requires transportation of students and employees must abide by all transportation rules and procedures.
