Position Summary
This Temporary Program Associate position is a 15 hour per week position to support the work of the Carolina Diplomacy Fellowship program as part of the Diplomacy Initiative and is open to all UNC -Chapel Hill students interested in gaining a greater understanding of global affairs participating in career and professional development opportunities and applying those skills to pursue solutions for shared global challenges. While completing the program fellows will build a portfolio of global affairs experiences reflecting their learning and skills. By the end of the program fellows will be able to showcase and communicate their experiences and market themselves for their next professional experience whether thats an internship job fellowship or graduate program. Upon completion fellows will receive a certificate and digital badge that validates their achievement. The position reports to the Associate Director for Global Education in the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs. Summary of duties: Enroll students in the Carolina Diplomacy Fellows program ( CDF ) Canvas site; Grading student submissions in the CDF Canvas site; Providing updates on the CDF Canvas activity and feedback on the CDF program; Mentoring undergraduate students with organizing CF community building activities; Badge Tracking; Reviewing and analyzing responses from exit surveys; Updating Canvas modules with program offerings; General administration tasks for Carolina Diplomacy Fellows program Other tasks related to the Carolina Diplomacy Fellows program and the Diplomacy Initiative programs as directed by the Associate Director for Global Education. The work location for this position is the Global Affairs office located in the Fed Ex Global Education Center on UNC campus.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Must be highly organized and motivated to work independently demonstrating a detailed ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Experience working with undergraduate and graduate students on student programs including mentoring and running student programs at an institution for higher education. Demonstrated ability to work with a large variety of constituents (academic business and non-profit) including people of diverse cultural backgrounds and nationalities on a regular basis; needs excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills. Capable of working independently and with a team; a self-starter who follows through on details and works and communicates well to multiple groups. Must be able to meet deadlines without fail. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Experience with Canvas MS Office Suite must have experience with creating reports Excel as well as data management and analysis.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Experience in program administration in a university setting is preferred Exposure to course work in Global Studies is preferred.
Work Schedule
Working hours are largely to be completed on a set schedule on-site (in-person) with some flexed hours for occasional programming. Specific schedule to be worked out with the Hiring Supervisor.
