Job Description

Job Description:
A Manager of Business Development (Shipping & Logistics) isresponsible for driving revenue growth by identifying and securing new business opportunities building and maintaining client relationships and developing and implementing strategic plans for client expansion and retention.This role requires a strong understanding of the shipping and logistics industry excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to analyze market trends and competitor activity.
Heres a more detailed breakdown of the responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identifying and Generating New Business:
    • Prospecting for potential new clients through various channels including cold calling networking and market research.
    • Developing and implementing business development strategies to acquire new clients and expand existing accounts.
    • Qualifying leads and identifying key decision-makers within client organizations.
    • Preparing and presenting proposals to clients aligning solutions with their specific needs and objectives.
    • Participating in industry events and conferences to build relationships and promote the company.
  • Building and Maintaining Client Relationships:
    • Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
    • Collaborating with internal teams to develop and execute strategic plans for client expansion and retention.
    • Ensuring timely and efficient delivery of services to clients.
    • Managing client communication and providing regular updates on project progress.
  • Strategic Planning and Analysis:
    • Analyzing market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities and inform business development decisions.
    • Developing and implementing business development strategies to achieve revenue targets and market share growth.
    • Monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborating with internal teams including sales operations and customer service to ensure a seamless customer experience.
    • Preparing and presenting business development reports to senior management.
    • Communicating effectively with clients and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • General:
    • Managing the sales pipeline and maintaining accurate records of client interactions.
    • Contributing to the development of marketing materials and sales tools.
    • Staying up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in business administration logistics or a related field.
  • Proven experience in shipping and logistics particularly in freight forwarding or 3PL.
  • Strong sales and business development skills including lead generation relationship building and negotiation.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and other relevant sales tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
