Job Description

In an environment where Financial Crimes actors are continuously evolving their tactics becoming more complex we need to lead and deploy advanced technology solutions that operate effectively while shaping the advancement of financial crimes operational strategies and solutions to safeguard our customers the company and its employees.

About this role:

Wells Fargo is on the hunt for a Software Engineering Manager who can build and lead a cross-functional team of engineers to build and operationalize innovative products and capabilities that can bring better efficiency and scalability in our Financial Crimes Operations routines and workflows or accelerate new capability development through software engineering.

You will lead a team of talented engineers while staying close to the technical work. This role requires a balance of people management and hands-on techno-functional leadership ensuring the team builds high-quality scalable solutions while maintaining a strong engineering culture.

Youll mentor engineers contribute to technical & functional decisions provide architectural guidance and ensure the successful delivery of critical work. We look for leaders who foster a culture of ownership accountability and continuous learning. You should have a strong technical foundation experience solving complex engineering challenges and a track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams.

This senior manager will be responsible for:

  • Manage coach and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers in roles with moderate complexity and risk responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology

  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture and meeting non-functional requirements with each release

  • Partner with engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture for example cloud readiness application modernization data strategy

  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards

  • Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high-risk deliverables and help remove impediments obstacles and friction while encouraging constant learning experimentation and continual improvement

  • Interpret develop and ensure security stability and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity as well as identify manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk

  • Collaborate with partner with and influence Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap promote innovative and intelligent solutions generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices

  • Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers

  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in technology engineering

  • Hire build and guide a culture of talent development to have the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for product areas and products to meet business objectives and strategy as well as conduct performance management for engineers and managers

  • Lead the design development and management of innovative fraud and claims GenAI solutions across various fraud vectors impacting Wells Fargo or efficiency opportunities

  • Work with the Fraud & Claims platform and product leaders/business partners to operationalize these capabilities and realize benefits and efficiency gains

In this role you will:

  • Primary Delivery Manager managing small to medium size teams to deliver successfully on High Priority project commitments on a timely manner

  • Engage in discussions with the business partners and stakeholders to propose appropriate solutions

  • Leverage latest technology stack as part of solution designs and development to build and deliver highly scalable solutions for FCO business partners

  • Set and maintain good quality standards across all deliverables through appropriate technology tools procedures and controls

  • Manage a team of software engineers engineering leads

  • Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders

  • Collaborate with Risk and Control partners to identify control gaps and mitigate and automate with effective controls

  • Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans for usage and deployment of GenAI capabilities

  • Provide oversight to software craftsmanship security availability resilience and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third-party providers

  • Set management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key fraud & claims initiatives

  • Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation

  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers

  • Lead team to achieve objectives

  • Understand the enterprise priorities and help the team to align to those priorities.

  • Interface with external agencies regulatory bodies or industry forums

  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy

Required Qualifications:

  • 4 years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience training military experience education

  • 2 years of Leadership experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing KYC/CDD solutions in Wells Fargo or in large Financial Institutions.

  • Extensive knowledge in KYC and Financial Crimes domain.

  • Prior work experience in Wells Fargo technology environment is added advantage.

  • Knowledge and experience building solutions using AI/ML

  • CI/CD working knowledge with tools like Jenkins GitHub Artifactory Gradle SonarQube

  • Well verse in developing applications and Architecture experience leveraging .NET or Java stack J2EE Spring Boot UI Technologies (ReactJS Angular JQuery) Micro services Design Patterns & Cloud Platform enablement with engineering focus.

  • OOPs understanding proficient in Core Java & any scripting language (Python/JavaScript/Shell)

Compensation for this position is between $122200.00 to$217200.00 depending on experience and expertise demonstrated during the interview process.

There is NO Visa Sponsorship available for this position.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements skills experience or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
