Responsibilities

A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge skills abilities and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into
practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas listed below.


Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values patient/customer focus taking ownership health care knowledge teamwork clinical performance improvement service excellence decision making
and critical thinking and patient safety.

This role provides an opportunity to develop foundational skills and contribute to exceptional patient care within a collaborative healthcare environment. You will be responsible for:

  • Patient-Centered Care: Applying evidence-based practices the nursing process and critical thinking to deliver holistic care to patients across the lifespan. This includes learning to assess patient needs implement care plans and monitor patient progress.
  • Interprofessional Collaboration: Collaborating and communicating effectively with the interprofessional team to ensure seamless patient care delivery and optimal patient outcomes. This involves active participation in team discussions and a commitment to shared decision-making.
  • Professional Development & Accountability: Taking ownership of your practice delegated tasks and the coordination of patient care. This includes actively seeking opportunities to expand your nursing knowledge maintaining professional standards and demonstrating accountability for your actions.
  • Leadership & Teamwork: Contributing to a positive and supportive work environment by respecting colleagues fostering trust and upholding professional standards. This includes demonstrating initiative supporting team goals and promoting a culture of excellence.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Knowledge Skills Abilities and Training:

  • Must meet the requirements of the year long program including preparation work and class attendance.
  • Must remain in a full-time position for the entirety of the year long program.
  • Must be able to work and train on either night or day shifts including holidays.
  • Must agree to terms and conditions of the program.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing;
  • 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience
  • Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State inwhich s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residency if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state
  • BLS certification - American Heart Association
  • Additional certifications may be required based on population(s) served and services provided
  • Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements
