Job Description

Summary:Queens University of Charlottes Athletics is an NCAA Division I program distinguished by its commitment to transforming the lives of its students and consistently competing at the highest possible levels. The Royals joined the ASUN Conference on July 1 2022.

Former graduate assistants (GA) and interns have used their learning and practicing experiences with the Royals to land jobs with organizations such as the Carolina Panthers Charlotte Hornets USA Triathlon USA Swimming and Ally to name a few.

This is a 12-month 20 hour/week renewable graduate assistant position that reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Events & Facilities. The GA position begins on July 1 2025. The successful candidate must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Queens University of Charlotte. There is no expressed or implied commitment to a paid position upon completion of the internship. This role is eligible for tuition remission for up to six credit hours per semester and a stipend. No housing is offered.

Duties and Responsibilities

This graduate assistantship works directly with the Assistant Athletic Director for Facility and Events and assists with the day-to-day coordination of the Queens University of Charlotte athletic facilities and events. This position will offer extensive experience of the internal responsibilities and job roles of a Division I athletic department. Areas of experience will include but are not limited to business operations game and facility management scheduling and personnel management.

Areas Learning and Application:

  • Learn and practice working withevents staff to ensure all athletic venues are adequately prepared for athletic practices and competitions.
  • Learn and practice assisting the events staff with scheduling of game day personnel for all athletic related events and activities.
  • Learn and practiceeffectively communicating and coordinating game day logistics with game officials Campus Police Maintenance game day staff and other departments as necessary.
  • Learn and practiceperforming game management duties such as game clock operator statistical spotter instant replay music operator and other duties as assigned.
  • Learn and practice communicating and coordinating maintenance on facility improvements and required upkeep at all athletic venues.
  • Learn and practiceassisting with project management on facility upgrades such as equipment signage banners scoreboards and audio/video technology.
  • Learn and practiceassisting with the coordination and communication of the athletic facility and events calendar.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in communications business sport management or related area of study
  • Must be a current full-time graduate student at Queens University of Charlotte
  • Strong communication planning event management organization and writing skills.
  • Strong followup skills as well as plan organize and control projects to completion.
  • Highly organized detail oriented and exceptional verbal and written communication
