Job Summary
Responsible to provide spiritual care to patients families visitors and staff. Patients are seen at the bedside or in outpatient settings as assigned. Involved in all aspects of care including but not limited to team meetings family meetings and goals of discussions. Staff support is provided through 1:1 encounters and group gatherings in the units and other locations as needed. Also charged with developing and leading hospital-wide and community faith-specific and interfaith services. Work as team members in accordance with the departments mission and vision statements.Qualifications
Education
A graduate degree in divinity theology religious studies ministry counseling or a related field suitable for hospital chaplaincy from an institution accredited as a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Two or more units of Clinical Pastoral Education from an accredited CPE training program. Four units preferred.
Experience
Minimum: Two or more years of work experience in a hospital setting or two years of relevant spiritual ministry pastoral or congregational experience.
Preferred: Two years of work experience post-CPE in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
Certification
Preferred: Board Certified or eligible for Board Certification by a recognized national body (APC NACC etc.) within three years of start date and Board Certified in good standing with a recognized National Body (APC NACC etc.) within three years of start date.
For the ordained: Endorsement for hospital Chaplaincy from the ecclesiastical body to which the candidate belongs.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Maintains current knowledge of regulations pertaining to the delivery of Hospice services and conducts team operations in a manner to be in compliance with such regulations.
- Maintains and demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of bereavement principles practices standards and techniques and applies this knowledge in accordance with St.
- Knowledge of various religious practices health care ethics grief and bereavement counseling techniques with hospice families and excellent work organization skills.
- Proficient at multitasking and having a high level of problem solving skills.
- Demonstrates resiliency with matters of death and dying.
- Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
